The Ministry of Science and Technology is supporting the development of six large castings and forgings

In order to solve a number of key technologies and common technical problems in China's major equipment manufacturing and realize independent research and development of major equipment and complete sets of technology, the Ministry of Science and Technology recently stated that it has established large-scale casting and forging manufacturing in the “Eleventh Five-Year” National Science and Technology Support Plan. The key technology and equipment development projects, the Ministry of Science and Technology will focus on this project, focusing on six aspects of work.
These six aspects of work are: focus on the urgent needs of the Three Gorges 700MW hydropower unit for the localization of large castings and forgings, carry out the manufacturing technology research and process test of key castings and forgings such as turbine runners, and overcome the key technologies of the manufacturing process to realize the Three Gorges Supporting applications for 700MW hydropower units and other large hydropower units.
Focus on the urgent need for the localization of large-scale castings and forgings for millions of kilowatt-class nuclear power equipment, carry out research and test on key technologies of large-scale casting and forging manufacturing processes, master key manufacturing technologies, and realize supporting applications in nuclear power equipment mainframes.
Focus on the manufacture of 600-1000MW supercritical and ultra-supercritical steam turbines with high and medium pressure rotors and low pressure rotors, carry out research on high purity large steel ingot smelting process and ingot process technology, carry out forging process parameter test and optimization technology, and forging quality control technology research. Research and simulation test of partition heat treatment technology for high and low pressure composite rotor forgings for gas-steam combined cycle generators, research on high purity steel casting, heat treatment technology and casting quality assurance technology for steam turbine cylinders.
Research on the manufacturing technology of large marine crankshaft forgings. Master the manufacturing technology of large marine crankshaft forgings, and form mass production capacity to meet the performance requirements of large-scale marine diesel engines.
Carry out research on common technology of large castings and forgings. To carry out the research and application of common technologies such as metal material refining technology, casting process, forging process, quality control and numerical simulation required in the development and production of large-scale casting and forging parts, and form corresponding technical specifications and standards.
Develop 150-165MN free forging press and its supporting operation machine, master the core technology, break through the production bottleneck of major technical equipment in China, and improve the manufacturing technology level and manufacturing capacity of extra large free forgings.
The Ministry of Science and Technology pointed out that large-scale casting and forging manufacturing technology will play a crucial role in improving the manufacturing capacity and level of China's large-scale equipment and ensuring high-speed, healthy development and national defense construction in all sectors of the national economy. At the same time, it is of vital importance to accelerate the competitiveness of China's manufacturing industry and accelerate China's becoming a world manufacturing power.
