Heat treatment process of aluminum alloy castings

1, annealing. The casting is heated to a relatively high temperature (around 300°C), and after a certain period of time, the furnace cooling process is called annealing. The annealing treatment can eliminate the internal stress of the casting, stabilize the size of the casting, reduce the deformation, and increase the plasticity of the casting.

2, solution treatment. The casting is heated to a temperature as high as possible (close to the melting point of the eutectic), rapidly cooled for a sufficiently long period of time to allow the strengthening of the strengthening element to dissolve in the aluminum, and the high temperature state is fixed at room temperature. Called solution treatment, commonly known as quenching. Solution treatment can increase the strength and plasticity of the casting and improve the corrosion resistance of the alloy.

3, aging treatment. The process of casting the solution after heating to a certain temperature, a certain amount of time after the furnace is cooled is called aging. The aging treatment using a lower aging temperature or shorter holding time is called incomplete artificial aging; the aging treatment using a higher aging temperature or a longer holding time is called full artificial aging. Incomplete artificial aging results in excellent overall mechanical properties of the casting, ie higher strength, good plasticity and toughness, but the corrosion resistance may be lower. Fully artificial aging, can make the casting obtain the maximum strength, namely the highest tensile strength, but the elongation is lower.

4, cycle processing. The process of cooling the casting to sub-zero temperature for several times and then heating it to the working temperature of the casting for a certain period of time is called circulation treatment. Cycling can be used to control the dimensional stability of the Czech Republic and is suitable for the processing of precision parts.
