Sealing material application

The aerospace industry also requires sealing materials to meet specific environmental requirements such as resistance to vacuum, radiation, pollution, non-toxicity, high and low temperatures, and resistance to media such as aviation fuels and rocket propellants. The sealing materials used in the aerospace industry mainly include: polysulfide rubber, silicone rubber and polyurethane sealants. Polysulfide rubber sealant has excellent aviation fuel resistance and is mainly used for sealing the entire fuel tank of the wing and the fuselage.

Silicone rubber sealant can withstand high temperature and low temperature, radiation resistance, vacuum resistance, pollution-free, non-toxic, mainly used for sealing of various sealed compartments. Polyurethane sealant has good ultra-low temperature performance, and is mainly used for joints of liquid propellant liquid hydrogen and liquid oxygen. Encapsulants are also used for the filling of aircraft cockpits, window doors, instrument compartments, shells, ejector, electrical plugs, electronic components and electromagnets.
