It is reported that the China Mining Federation issued a notice recently that after the expert review, Linyi City was named "China's Diamond Capital." At the 2014 China Mining Cycle Economy and Green Mine Construction Conference held yesterday, Xu Tian, the vice president of China Mining Association, read the naming document of “China's Diamond Capital”. Zhu Xunxiang, Honorary President of China Mining Association Vice Mayor of the City, Bian Feng, awarded the plaque of “China Diamond Capital”.

Linyi City is China's first diamond primary mine development base. The Qiyu No. 1 Mine in Linyi is the earliest diamond primary mine in China with a certain production scale. It is also the only diamond mine with large-scale production and operation. In recent years, the geological department has found that the reserves of diamond resources in Linyi reached 1.747 million carats, and the accumulated reserves of diamond resources were 12.335 million carats, accounting for about 50% of the total identified in the country.

Linyi Diamond has a long history of unearthed. According to data records and folklore, the Yucheng area under the jurisdiction of Linyi City was unearthed during the Ming Dynasty. The investigation of diamond resources in Shandong began in the late 19th century with the investigation of the German geologist F·V·Hichhofen on the Yucheng sand mine. From the 1920s to the 1930s, the Japanese conducted diamond sand ore surveys in Linyi and Yucheng. In the early 1950s, the Ministry of Geology of China sent people to conduct diamond sand ore surveys in Linyi and Mengyin. From 1965 to 1979, geological workers found 10 kimberlite rock tubes, 47 kimberlite veins, and 1 kimberlite rock bed. After exploration and evaluation, the diamond content in 25 kimberlites reached industrial requirements, and 2 large primary mines and 3 small deposits were identified. In recent years, Linyi City has included diamond as a superior mineral in the Linyi Mining Economic Development Plan (2012~2020), and compiled a development plan for advantageous mineral resources industry, which will be Mengyin County, Pingyi County, Feixian County and Yucheng City. The county is listed as the key investigation and evaluation area of diamond primary ore and the important ore-forming area of deep prospecting. At the same time, Shandong Yimeng Diamond National Mine Park is used as a carrier to comprehensively protect mining relics, actively build a diamond processing base, and focus on the formation of mining, processing and sales, and extend the production and supporting industries to promote and coordinate development.

Wang Jiahua, executive vice president of China Mining Association, Chen Xianda, full-time vice president and secretary general of China Mining Association, Guo Zhenxi, invited consultant of China Mining Association, Zhang Qingkun, deputy secretary of deputy secretary of Shandong Provincial Department of Land and Resources, Shandong Mining Shao Qingchun, president of the association, and Li Yanpu, director of the Land and Resources Bureau of Linyi City, attended the ceremony of inauguration; Xie Shuguang, deputy secretary-general of Linyi Municipal Government, presided over the inauguration ceremony.
