Energy Administration Releases Electricity Consumption Slowdown in October 2012 According to the data released by the National Energy Administration on the 16th, China’s total electricity consumption in October was 399.8 billion kWh, an increase of 6.1% year-on-year, and the growth rate was 5.25 percentage points lower than the same period last year.

Data show that from January to October, the country’s entire society used 4,081,100 million kilowatt-hours of electricity, an increase of 4.9% year-on-year. In terms of classification, the primary industry's electricity consumption was 8.7 billion kWh, a decrease of 0.7%; the secondary industry's electricity consumption was 3002.9 billion kWh, an increase of 3.2%; the tertiary industry's electricity consumption was 473.1 billion kWh, an increase of 11.2%; urban and rural residents Electricity consumption reached 525.4 billion kwh, an increase of 10.9%.

From January to October, the cumulative average utilization of power generation equipment in the country was 3,801 hours, a year-on-year decrease of 157 hours. Among them, the average utilization hours of hydropower equipment was 3114 hours, an increase of 488 hours; the average utilization hours of thermal power equipment was 4,084 hours, a decrease of 296 hours. From January to October, the country’s new power production capacity (formally put into operation) was 47.53 million kilowatts, of which 10.35 million kilowatts of hydropower and 29.6 million kilowatts of thermal power.
