Chinalco Peru Mining Kingsmill Water Treatment Plant held a groundbreaking ceremony

A few days ago, the opening ceremony of the Kingsmill water treatment plant invested by Chinalco Peru for US$24 million was held in Yauli, Peru, and Peru’s Deputy Minister of Energy and Mining Felipe. The Kingsmill Tunnel was built by the original Cerro de Paso Mining Company in 1932 for the discharge of waste water from the mining activities in Molokocha and Yawli, and the Yawli River was contaminated.

In order to ensure that the production water after the completion of the copper mine of Chinalco Peru Mining Company will no longer cause pollution to the river, Chinalco Peru has decided to invest in the construction of the Kingsmill Water Treatment Plant, and to solve the pollution problem in the Yali River through this project. The project began construction preparations in November last year and is expected to be completed in September this year.
