Application of ZF gearbox in machine tool spindle system

With the rapid development of technology and manufacturing technology, more and more users hope to achieve high-speed cutting and high-torque cutting, which puts a higher test on the machine tool industry. Torque is inversely proportional to the speed. It is unrealistic to achieve high speed and large torque on the same machine, but we can also improve the traditional spindle drive system to meet the needs of users. At this stage, some host manufacturers at home and abroad add ZF gearboxes to the spindle drive system to achieve this, as shown in Figure 1.

Our company is one of the first manufacturers in China to use the imported ZF gearbox from Germany to achieve high speed and high torque. It has already gained rich experience in using ZF gearbox. ZF gearboxes enable high-speed machining of flexible materials for high cutting rates and high productivity, as well as high-cutting forces for machining hard materials. When the ZF gearbox transmission ratio is 1:1, the high speed of the motor can be obtained by driving the motor to drive the gearbox; when the ZF gearbox transmission ratio is 1:4 or 1:5.5, the gear shift is driven by the drive motor. The box can achieve low torque and high torque to achieve user demand.

1. ZF gearbox connection

In vertical or gantry machining centers, our company often uses ZF gearboxes and couplings such as couplings and spindle drive systems. The spindle cutter cylinder piston needs to move back and forth during the spindle machining process. To solve the effective connection between the ZF gearbox and the cutter and spindle drive system, we use the coupling 2 plus spline piston 3 method. Connect one end of the coupling 2 to the ZF gearbox 1 and machine the spline at one end to the spline cylinder 5 through the spline piston 3. See Figure 2. In this structural design, the spline piston 3 is designed both as a transition piece for the ZF box and the spindle system, and as a moving piston in the spindle tool cylinder assembly.
