New halogen-free flame-retardant resin with high efficiency and low cost

The National Science and Technology Support Program for the “Eleventh Five-Year Plan” undertaken by Sichuan Dongcai Science and Technology Group Co., Ltd. – A new NP (nitrogen-phosphorus) synergistic non-halogen flame-retardant benzoxazine/epoxy resin synthesis technology research and application project passed acceptance. The project provided technical support for China's electronic and electrical industries to respond to EU environmental protection bans.

Researchers synthesized two benzoxazines with high nitrogen content and low free phenol using emulsion synthesis and mid-temperature extraction of free phenol. They introduced reactive amino groups and maleimide groups in the phenanthroline structure of phosphinosin and succeeded in obtaining NP-based epoxy resin curing agents containing reactive amino groups and maleimide groups. The above benzoxazines and curing agents are combined to form an efficient, low cost NP synergistic non-halogen flame retardant resin system. The project team developed four new materials based on this, and built a 5,000-ton/year halogen-free flame-retardant resin production line, a 1,000-ton/year phosphorus-containing epoxy resin curing agent production line, and a 2,000-ton/year composite material production line.
