This compound has a two-dimensional layered structure and exhibits various functions such as high-temperature superconductivity and thermoelectric conversion. In addition, there may be special physical phenomena caused by the two-dimensional electronic state, which is also a characteristic of compounds with a two-dimensional layered structure. Scientists have been looking forward to discovering layered compounds with unprecedented new properties. The 4-layer bismuth-based layered compound first discovered in this study has bulk superconductivity. With this opportunity, it is expected to accelerate the development of functional materials with bismuth-based layered compounds with four conductive layers.
