Dow Coating Materials Launches Pre-Composite Polymer Technology

The Dow Chemical Coatings Materials business unit recently launched an EVOQUETM pre-polymeric polymer technology. Today, the coverage and supply of titanium dioxide have reached an upper limit, and the new technology is aimed at maximizing the hiding power of architectural coatings through an alternative to titanium dioxide. EVOQUETM technology helps to improve the particle distribution and light scattering efficiency of titanium dioxide, thereby increasing the hiding power of titanium dioxide and reducing the titanium dioxide content in paint formulations by 15-20%. Other advantages of the new technology include improved barrier properties such as stain resistance and corrosion resistance. In addition, paint formulators can use this technology to reduce the "energy footprint" of titanium dioxide production, processing, and transportation, which in turn reduces the "carbon footprint" of end products.

The Dow Coating Materials Business Unit is currently conducting a "Life Cycle Analysis" review of the new technology through a third party organization to determine all the sustainable benefits it can bring. Dow Chemical will announce product information and success stories related to EVOQUETM pre-composite polymer technology in the coming months.
